Dungeons & Dragons is a pen-and-paper roleplaying game. You and a group of friends gather around a table and pretend to be fantasy warriors, rangers and wizards on a quest to defeat monsters and save the world, all aided by thick rulebooks explaining how the minutiae of combat work.
I’ve started playing roleplaying games in high school, with Dračí doupě, a Czech roleplaying game modeled after Dungeons&Dungeons, and it was fun. I first came into contact with actual Dungeons&Dragons in the video game Neverwinter Nights, and loved it. I read the rulebooks online, hoping that one day I’d get to play the game with friends myself, and this finally happened in university, when we started playing D&D in 2014 and I’ve been playing the game ever since.
My current favorite game system is Pathfinder, a system adapted from the 3.5 edition of Dungeons&Dragons.
